The
Booklets
Not
everybody has a computer, uses the Internet or even knows
what a web site is and for some time I have been very much aware
that there could be enthusiasts of ancient stones out there
who might be interested in the subject but prefer
traditional means such as good old paper. In light of this
I've set myself the somewhat daunting task of producing a
series of small A5 booklets listing and describing the
ancient stones in each of the four areas that this web site
covers.
While
it took me a long time to actually put pen to paper, I've finally
started work on the first booklet, The Ancient Stones of the
Lothians. This volume will cover most of the sites listed
online and will take in, geographically, West Lothian, The
City of Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian with about 60
or more sites described. The booklets will
follow the same style as the entries on the web site and
will also include a small photograph of each site. However,
at end of March 2008 I'm only about 25% of the way there, so
publication is some time away.
The Ancient Stones of the Lothians, is the first in a series of guides
that will eventually include the ancient stones found in the
adjoining regions, namely the Scottish Borders to the south,
the Kingdom
of
Fife across
the Firth of Forth to the north and finally Dumfries
and Galloway to the south west. The next booklet planned
will cover the Scottish Borders. The
booklets will be available for purchase at local outlets in
Edinburgh, around the south of Scotland and also online from
this site as well as anothers yet to be defined.
